The Space Shuttle Enterprise will make it’s final voyage to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York City tomorrow morning (June 6) by barge.
It’s not everyday that New Yorkers can see one of NASA’s Space Shuttle’s floating down the Hudson River. Enterprise is scheduled to depart Port Elizabeth in New Jersey at 10:15AM, passing by New York City landmarks on it’s voyage.
Timetable of Space Shuttle Enterprise’s June 6, 2012 Journey
- 10:15 AM – Space Shuttle Enterprise departs Port Elizabeth, NJ
- 10:50 AM – Enterprise passes the Statue of Liberty
- 11:30 AM – Space Shuttle passes World Trade Center
- 12:30 PM – Arrival at Intrepid Museum
Best Space Shuttle Viewing Locations
Any place with a clear view of the Hudson River will offer a good view of the Space Shuttle. New Jersey based Shuttle Spotters ought to get a pretty good view of the Enterprise against the New York City Skyline and Statue of Liberty from Liberty State Park near Ellis Island.
From Manhattan, I would suggest viewing from Battery Park, Battery Park City or Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller Park, all on the Lower West Side. The High Line also offers a few scenic views of the River.
Brooklyn won’t offer the best view of the Space Shuttle, but the best sights will be from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and from Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6 near Atlantic Avenue.
