Four Tips to Protect Your Pilot Logbook

Tip #2: Lock it Up

Just because your logbook is at home doesn’t guarantee its safety. Consider keeping it under lock and key. If you already own a safe for your valuables, it may be prudent to make some room for the ole’ logbook too. If not, consider buying one for this purpose.

Another option is to open a safe-deposit box at your bank and keep the logbook there. Unfortunately this puts some distance between you and your logbook, which is a royal pain when it comes to logging time.

  1. As an added thought: I was just listening to a great podcast: MacBreak Weekly ( go to http://www.twit.tv ) and they were discussing backing up important data. Sound familiar?

Heres the point the host made: If it isn’t in three locations, it isn’t real. Keep your backups in three different locations. So if you go digital make some copies and spread them around!
